I live in DFW too and I would be scared to store electronics in the attic due to the heat.
Where to get my DX 100 repaired? Do you know?
Love this channel, l hope it's still alive
I will say, I would argue the SC-55 is at least equal to the MT-32 in terms of sound quality, and they aren't compatible with eachother, so I dunno if i'd say either is the best sound for DOS games.
I had one in 1984
7:04 But what about bouncing? You can record 2 or 3 instruments individually and then join them by recording on the 4. track together, making space for more instruments. It will worsen a quality a bit if done several times I guess, but you don't need more recorders 😎
I thought there were only 15 sounds.
I find it very stupid that they did not make it full size
I used to play those auto-chords that you never used thru a cheap guitar chorus, and it sounded amazing (to my young ears) Thanks for the trip down memory lane with this one :)
Just got one at a yard sale for $2
i have a dx100 i just got for 10$ at a consignment been tryna get it t work to make beats and im in a pickle and tryna get it working now i got a lot of my answers uhh i just wanna play it no battery no cartidge i reset but i dnt have any midi chords
For those wondering how it was done back in the day - you'd "bounce" multiple tracks down into a single track. So drums might get four tracks for mixing, but you'd combine all of that onto a new tape. There was a loss in quality, but you'd effectively have more tracks. This is how all of the big bands (including the Beatles) did it back in the 60s.
This was such a ridiculous undertaking, I was always impressed by the ingenuity it took to get it to work, even if it wasn't perfect.
I'll throw in my "I want more 8-Bit Keys" comment in here as well. I know you're busy, but I love this channel! Currently binging videos again.
I'm hoping that he would eventually do a Yamaha MIE-1 Video since if he did the Miracle Piano then at least do a keyboard that deserves justice and coverage that nobody sees in the history of Yamaha outside a classroom setting.
Dave is too busy these days with the Commander X16 and now the Time Rift Arcade plus other stuff. I doubt we'll ever see a new video here again and even if we do, it'll probably be a one-off.
Coming back to watch some of these old episodes is still enjoyable, but as soon as you took a smell test of the bag and the video started buffered I practically burst out laughing 😂 WELL PLAYED, RUclips SERVERS. WELL PLAYED.
Lol, I have a Meowsic keyboard. It does quite a bit for a kids toy. ❤
YOU SHOULDVE USED GLOVES FOR THIS RESTORATION!
W TYLER
I love the cat keyboard! I bought one myself. This is the most unique keyboard out there! I got a fisher price one as a kid for Xmas and it was so cool. I remember the beat was so sick and you could do all sort of fun things with it!
Perfect for video games and dungeon synth
Just bought a used HT-700 but it did not come with the power adapter. The seller said it works with batteries but this was before he sold it to me and then ghosted me. My question is, is there a specific type of battery this keyboard uses in order to power it up? Or a regular D size battery should work? Or did I just get scammed? lol
Should work on any D size battery, preferable alkaline type. Check the battery compartment and contacts are free of corrosion and crust.
I don't think this keyboard is 4 op. the chip it uses is 2 op, OPU
@ 6:02 can we say Final Fantasy IV style music!! Well done!
Nigga just casually said he is related to dimebag 😭🙏🏻
I heard it making Dubstep sounds, and Donks earlier. That drum machine is terrible, I like it.
I miss this channel sooooooo much and I do believe there's a lot left to explore, like the Yamaha Portasound VSS-100, which has an in built microphone + sampler, so you'd be able to record your voice and play it all over the keyboard as chords. Also, cassette portastudios are becoming really popular again, so you'd do a video with one of those, using toy keyboards/instruments to create a song with or whatever.
Wow, can we say keyboard snobbery?m Calling the keyboards crappy actually kind of offended me. The PSS-130 was the first keyboard my parents got me. When they saw how much I took to that “crappy” keyboard, playing it along with Mannheim Steamroller’s “Deck the Halls”, Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough” and other ssuch songs, they got me a PSR-47 next, then a PSR-400…and from there I got into Sony Acid, FL Studio, VST Synths, Roland Fantom G8, etc. None of that would’ve happened without my parents first testing the waters with the “amazing” PSS-130 in 1987. It did what it was designed to do, and that was introduce a kid to keyboards and spark the imagination. So please, you might refrain from calling things crappy if you want people to continue to watch your videos.
0:39 download link to the sound effect?
This might come very late but Double Jump Video Games got this Miracle Piano with Nintendo interfaces. I just left this comment when you said in the end that there were cables missing from package...
Aww, I found this in my channel in the subscribe list. A relic of the past 🥺
Tbh I want to hear SQ3 with the CZ-1000 or the VZ-10M

RIP 8-Bit Keys guy. Maybe that other 8-bit retro computer guy will take over this channel one day. They sound and look the same!
I owned one. My dad had bought me. Can't believe so many years have passed by. Thank you for bringing up the subject.
hey you know it pretty good price to have a Rhode et al if you buy Reface CP x 2!!!! Pretty close to 88 keys/actual 74?
I use this synth regularly for talkboxing at gigs. I got mine in 2007 and it's undergone numerous repairs ranging from loose memory chips, MIDI sockets and audio outputs to loose voltage regulators and cracked pitch bend stanchions. I also used a DX21 for a few years when the DX100's reliability was in question. It still has the factory battery in it but I'll change it when the time comes. I check it for voltage and leakage frequently.
The owner of the castle is def a freemason

If you like this there is another channel called "Keen on Keys" with a similar premise. Sad the 8-bit guy stopped uploading here though.

Dis it c9me with a pack of marlboros? ❤
Dude thank you for the UHF reference lmao. That movie is severely under appreciated.
Audio geek here. Metal tape is Type IV, Not II. With 1947 comments I'm sure someone mentioned this though, I hope. Metal tape also had much higher tape bias requirements and were harder on tape heads that it also needed a special tape head. It was NOT recommended to use a metal tape on players not designed for them. It was slowly destroy the head.
Still waiting David 🎶😂😂
Hello
I get St Elmo’s vibes from the song at the end.
The degree of the keys is important so I mean most people can imagine numbers but putting chord progressions together can be better done with using numbers as sounds. So maybe you do a progression of 1 1 3 4 4 with the key root of middles c. Then you would play the c chord twice the e chord once and the f chord twice.
this brings so many memories back... i had one, and my kids playd it for oures... they enjoyd the sampeling function of it :)
Shame that this has not been updated.
